AURORA MULTI-AXIS FORCE SENSOR CHOSEN AS FINALIST FOR EDN'S INNOVATION OF THE YEAR AWARD Santa Ana, CA, March 1998….. The
Aurora Multi-Axis Force Sensor, developed by Bokam Engineering, Inc. and licensed by Bourns, Inc. of Riverside, CA, has been chosen, from a field of hundreds, as a finalist in the EDN 1997 Innovation of the Year Award
Competition. The Aurora multi-Axis Force Sensor is nominated in the Components, Hardware and Interconnects Category. This exclusive awards program, sponsored by EDN magazine, is dedicated to honoring truly
outstanding products in the electronics industry. This product line is set up to support high volume and/or standard designs and applications by Bourns Sensors and Controls in Ogden, Utah. Bokam supports and
develops custom designs and applications of this technology. Products or technologies qualifying for a 1997 EDN Innovation award must have been introduced and commercially marketed during the 1997 calendar year.
Nine major product/technology areas wee eligible for consideration. Finalist products in each category were selected by a panel of EDN's technical editors. The Aurora Multi-Axis Force Sensor is the first solid,
ceramic two- or three-axis force sensor based on thick-film technology innovations. This revolutionary design provides a distinct linear ouput in all axes, resulting in precise, smooth motion control. The
design does not have any moving or rubbing parts to degrade performance or reliability. The sensors have undergone complete environmental and mechanical testing and have been tested to 10 million cycles in all
three axes. These factors combine to create a highly reliable and rugged product. Winners of the 1997 Innovation of the Year Awards will be chosen by EDN's worldwide readers through an online ballot at the EDN
Access Web site (www.ednmag.com)
. We encourage you to visit the EDN Web site to review the magazine's comments on the Aurora Multi-Axis Force Sensor. Winning products will be announced at a black-tie awards banquet on April 22, 1998 in San
Jose, CA and in the May 1998 issue of EDN. EDN, published by Cahners Publishing Company, is the premier design magazine of the electronics industry. Headquartered in Newton, MA, it serves the vital information
needs of design engineers and engineering managers worldwide. The EDN franchise includes EDN, EDN Europe, EDN Asia, EDN China and EDN Access, the only full-content, EOEM publication Web site. Bokam
Engineering was founded in 1980 as a consulting firm to meet the needs of customers who require state-of-the-art electromechanical technology. Rapidly expanding beyond its initial charter, the company became a
leader in high-tech sensor development and production, fostering the creation of a unique product line that has continuously expanded to include applications in all major sensor and instrumentation fields.
